Do You Have SMART Goals?

Do You Have SMART Goals?

Hi Friends
In the previous Blog, we talked about What is the purpose of your blogging?

Let’s talk about goals.
Goals…
Aren’t we all have lots of them…
Every new year, we start them with tons of goals…
I want to lose weight…
I want to get fit…
I want to make more ₹₹₹₹₹
And just like them…
We also have blogging goals.
I want to earn income…
I want to grow my business…
I want to get more clients…
But…
What happens to those goals?
First few days…
You are excited…
You do things…
Then…
You lose interest…
And you forget it…
The result is nothing much right…
You know why?
Because…
The goals are way too general.
if you genuinely want to achieve your goals,
You need to be specific about what you want to achieve.
You should have SMART goals.
Yup, a SMART goal…
One that is…

  • Specific
  • Measurable
  • Achievable
  • Results Focused and
  • Time Bound

Like…
I want to make at least ₹10,000 from Amazon affiliate program by July 2019
I want to increase my blog traffic by 30% within the next 6 months
I want to land 3 freelance clients in July 2018
Or
I want to build a list of 1000 subscribers before April 2019
Because…
When you know exactly what to achieve
Whether it is more money, more traffic, or more clients
You can build your strategy, actions, and content around achieving those exact goals.
You can establish your KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
…That you can use to measure your performance
…and optimize and improve your strategy to achieve your goals.
And, Without specific goals…
You don’t have a direction.
You don’t have clarity on what you want to achieve or
You don’t have a clue whether what you do is working or not.
You are just lost
That’s why…
Setting smart goals and KPIs are essential for blogging success.
Because…
It’s not only giving you focus –
But also helping you in improving your future strategies.
And asking the right questions.
Whether you’ve achieved your goals or not,
You need to ask one question…
Why?
Why did you achieve the goal?
Or
Why didn’t you?
And it will lead you to the answer…
What worked or what didn’t work
Because… at the end
It all comes down to a few elements that help you to either succeed or fail
The Content Topic:
Which topics your audience likes the most? Which doesn’t?
Which gets you the best results?
When you have answers for these, you can use them to focus more on the content your audience appreciates and improve the results.
The Content Format:
You cannot just stick to one content format and hope for the best.
You need to try different formats to keep them engaged…
When you do…
You’ll learn which formats are preferred by your audience…
And you can use it to get better results.
[Pro tip: Different audience on different channels prefer different content formats]
The Promotional Strategy:
You could write the world’s best content…
Without right promotional strategy…
It will never be found and appreciated.
And, to make the most out of your promotions.
You need to know which channels bring you
…More engaged audience
…More leads and
…More conversions
And, which doesn’t
So that you can focus your efforts on the right channels
But to do all of these…
You need to have the SMART goals and KPIs.
Go and work on your goals before you write your first blog post or the next one.
