what are keywords ?
When you say keywords, you mean ‘the search queries’ – the words people use to find what they want.

There are three types of Keywords
- Navigational keywords [also known as Go keywords]
- Informational keywords [also known as Know keywords] and
- Transactional keywords [known as Do keywords]
As a blogger, you’ll be focusing more on the informational keywords and transactional keywords, and once you become popular, you’ll become a navigational keyword.

1. Informational keywords
First, let’s talk about the informational keywords.
Informational keywords are the words people use to research topics and find answers. That’s why it’s called ‘Know’ keywords.
- Do you want an answer: How do I choose the right niche?
- You’re researching: What is affiliate marketing?
- Do you want to fix something: how to fix a leaking tap?
These are your target audience – people who are looking for answers and information.
These are the queries you to answer.
These are the people who’ll become your readers and your email subscribers.
And who’ll become a buyer when you offer them or lead them to a right solution.
2. Transactional Keywords
Then we have the Transactional Keywords.
These are the keywords people use to make the purchase decision.
- When you want the best: best android phone under 10,000
- When you want to compare: redmi 5 vs. realme 1
- When you want to find an offer: Moto g6 plus offers
These keywords are also known as Do keywords or purchase intent keywords because people who use the keywords are very close to taking action.
These are your money keywords.
These are the keywords you ideally want to rank for.
Pro Tip: Contrary to the popular belief, people don’t search ‘buy mobiles online’ to purchase mobiles. They decide where to buy the keywords during their transactional searches. Don’t compete for these buy phrases. You better leave those keywords for the e-commerce sites.
3. Navigational keywords
And finally, we have the navigational keywords.
Digital Bhuvi, blogging cage, fresh to home, Pizza Hut – what are these keywords have in common?
People use them to find a particular website or shop or locate something.
That’s why they are also called Go keywords.
There you go.
You got to know about all three types.
You know which type to choose and what to avoid.
But…it’s not over, yet.
There is one more thing you need to know.
Trust me…it’s the last one before you get into the action.
You need to know about the keyword categories.

- Short tail [also known as the head keywords]
- Middle tail [known as the body keywords] and

1. Short tail keywords:
These are the top of the funnel – broad and generic keywords with lots of search volume.
People get tempted by the large search volumes, focus on these keywords.
Don’t you fall for it.
Because ranking for these keywords is going to take really long time and even if you rank, the traffic wouldn’t be profitable for you as they bring generic visitors.

2. Middle tail keywords:
These are the middle of the funnel – more specific and less search volume keywords.
These keywords are much better than the short tail keywords.
People are in the awareness stage of their buyer journey.
They will be the better audience for your blog.

See how specific they are.
3. Long-tail keywords:
These are the converting end of the funnel keywords.
These are highly specific but have the least search volume.
People are at the consideration and decision stage of their buyer journey.
You can convert them easily if you have the right solution or product.
Consider these keywords – SEO service [or specialist] for SAAS startup, Samsung Android phone with 4GB RAM and 64GB memory, WordPress magazine theme for genesis framework
These are people primed and waiting for the ideal or perfect solution to their problems or needs.
These are the highest converting keywords.
